The Atomos – Surface app for iPad features all the tools running in the cloud that you need to create a polished live production. Features include a video switcher for up to 8 inputs, a sound mixer for up to 32 channels, 2 x VT Players, 8 x DVE, 8 x frame players, transitions, HTML5 graphics, still images, PiPs and a fully integrated global talkback/intercom system, available as an iOS app called Atomos – Surface and directly on the Atomos device.
You can send up to 3 stream outputs to RTMP/S and SRT destinations and provide up to 5 simultaneous remote production monitoring outputs to the Atomos – Monitor Apple TV, Mac, iPad and iPhone apps in addition to using an Atomos device as a monitor.
When you’re ready to go live, each video and audio input source is streamed to the cloud via an Atomos Connect device (excluding Zato Connect) or the Atomos – Pro Camera app using a unique ultra-low latency protocol which provides a smooth experience for the entire team, whether they’re in the next room or situated in a different remote location, which can be anywhere in the world.

In a Social Show you can switch between up to four predefined input sources and create a show in real-time with the Atomos – Surface iPad or Mac Production Surface. You can mix and cut between sources and create a picture-in-picture (PiP) overlay. The show includes a 16-channel audio mixer. You can add still graphics, HTML5 graphics, 1 x VT player and 4 x DVE to support your brand. The program can be output to a single RTMP/S or SRT stream up to 6Mbit in different aspect ratios . All this functionality costs just 3 credits per hour, based on 2 cameras. Atomos devices support both intercom and tally for a fully rounded production suite of tools.
A Pro Show has all the functionality of a Social Show, but includes the option to add up to four Atomos – Surface intercom/talkback apps. With this feature your team can communicate and coordinate directly with each other, wherever they are, just using their iPhones. The Pro show also includes 2 x VT players, 8 x DVE, 8 x frame players. The show can be output to 3 x SRT, RTMP/S TX Outputs or Monitor Outputs,, all 3 in idifferent aspect ratios for social media if needed. The Pro show gives you the facility to record your show at 8Mbit quality in the cloud.
The Broadcast Show takes production values to the highest level, adding up to 8 camera sources, 2 x VT players, 8 x DVE, and 8 x frame players. The Broadcast Show also supports a fully featured 32-channel audio mixer with 4-band EQ. A second iPad or Mac control surface can be added to allow another operator to work on the show simultaneously, for example mixing the audio on a separate audio mixer panel.
There is fully featured talkback/intercom/tally functionality, which is supported by the Atomos – Pro Camera app, the Shogun series, any Ninja, Ninja Ultra or Ninja V/V+ fitted with Atomos Connect, as well as the dedicated Atomos – Surface Intercom iOS app. You can communicate directly with your team, wherever they are. The tally light status on each device shows the operator whether their device is LIVE (red) or in PREVIEW (green).
The show can be output via three separate encoders to 3 SRT, RTMP/S destinations and up to 5 monitors. These configurable monitor outputs, including a multi-view arrangement, can also be routed to the Atomos – Monitor apps running on Apple TV, Mac, iPad and iPhone. The Broadcast show can record the mixed TX output in the cloud at high 12Mbit quality.
Each show preset is assigned a specific credit usage value based on on-air hours. This helps you choose only the features you need for each production and manage the associated costs. A Social Show will use 3 credits per hour for 2 cameras, a Pro Show 6 credits per hour and a Broadcast Show 30 credits per hour. Additional cameras (streams) are added at 1 credit per hour, 2 credits per hour and 5 credits per hour respectively. You can also run multiple shows concurrently. ACS supports two types of credit: monthly credits which are included in your Live Production or All-inclusive plan, and top-up credits which can be purchased separately. The cost for additional credits is $2 per credit for the Free and Camera to Cloud plans and $1 per credit for Live Production and All-inclusive
The Live Production and All-inclusive plans include 30 credits per month. Credits are consumed by either RemoteView or Live Production, determined by the different types of shows and the specific features you require. They also determine the length of time your show can be live. Monthly credits are issued at the start of every billing cycle and are only valid for that month. For flexibility, it’s easy to move between subscription plans or purchase packs of additional top-up credits.
You can top up your ACS account with credits at any time. Unlike monthly credits, which expire, top-up credits remain usable for as long as you maintain an active ACS account. They are intended to be purchased when using the Free or Camera to Cloud plans, or to supplement your monthly allocation or meet the requirements of one-off events on the Live Production or All-inclusive plans. ACS will always use monthly credits first, only using top-up credits when all your monthly credits have been used. If you turn off a show early, any unused credits will be returned to your account Credits cost $2 per credit for the Free and Camera to Cloud plans and $1 per credit for Live Production and All-inclusive plans.
